For its Titletown series–running down the list of famous Stanford sports alums/players: Tiger, Elway, Plunkett, Pop Warner, Bill Walsh, Summer Sanders. They forgot John McEnroe!

Marina Sighting of the Day: Let me preface this by saying that the usual sightings in the Marina are 30 year old frat guys and hot blonde girls. As I was playing tennis today, my friend I heard some grunting in the bushes surrounding the tennis court. We of course thought it was the other players on the court just exaggerating Maria Sharapova like. However, we realized it wasn’t them. So where was the noise coming from? There was a homeless man who had burrowed out an area underneath bush and he was doing something (god knows what). Only in San Francisco.
As this German tourist told me when she was sitting at a table next to me in a coffee shop “you sure have a lot of crazy people walking around here.” True.
Other interesting anecdote: In this week’s Newsweek, they recall an incident where someone famous (whose name I forgot) was telling Mark Twain that America is a Christian Nation. Twain, an ardent believer in the separation of church and state, responded “so is hell.”

Excited about the new iphone apps coming out tomorrow.
TL sight of the day: a pimp and one of his crack whores on the bus. You would think they could put City Hall and the Federal Buildings in a slightly nicer part of town.
Went to the Asian Art Museum which has an incredible exhibit on the Ming Dynasty. My favorite painting was one of a friend visiting another on a whim. Half way through he realized the impulse carrying him ceded and he went back to his home. Apparently the high Chinese virtue reflected in the poem involved “going impromptu and returning at the heart’s content.” I’ve definitely had moments like that where I get an urge to do something and suddenly it ceases. Have not yet drawn a painting about it.
Some really neat and intricate statues of Hindu, Buddhist and Jain idols in the South Asia and the South East Asian section.
Definitely made up for the crack whore sighting.
